The Crisis & Our Local Response
On November 1st, 86,000 Utah families will not receive their SNAP benefits due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. For many families who are already struggling, this means choosing between the most basic necessities: food, heat, gas, and medicine.
At Neighborhood House, we are on the frontline of this crisis. 92% of the families we serve are living at or below the poverty line. We provide essential, sliding-fee childcare that costs families an average of just $8 a day, allowing parents to keep working.
But with vital SNAP benefits at risk, even that $8 could become the difference between dinner and an empty table.
We can’t change what’s happening in DC, but we can care for SLC.
Help us raise $50,000 and collect 10,000 lbs of food for our pantry by November 26th to keep local families nourished and supported through the holidays.
Two Immediate Ways to Help Join the Fierce Urgency of Now effort. The time to act is now.
1. Donate: Strengthen Our Hardship Assistance
Every dollar strengthens our hardship assistance program, which is dedicated to keeping working families stable and employed. Your donation allows families to use their limited funds for food, utilities, or gas, instead of worrying about the cost of their child’s care.
2. Give Food: Support Our Pantry
Your non-perishable food items directly stock our pantry, providing emergency food boxes to families facing an empty table.
Public Food Drive Drop-Off Event: Drop off non-perishable items at our parking lot event on Thursday, November 6th, 4pm to 7pm at Neighborhood House Main Campus
