Staying Engaged, Staying Connected

The daughter of another Neighborhood House client referred Alison to Neighborhood House in late 2016. Alison’s husband, Jacob has Alzheimer’s and although he is fairly high functioning he needed to keep busy and have more structure in his day.

After taking a tour and hearing the wonderful reviews from her family friend, Alison and Jacob decided to give Neighborhood House Adult Day Services a try.

Jacob has been attending Neighborhood House Adult Day Services regularly for a little over 6 months and eagerly looks forward to his every visit. Alison says it best, “He is happy and busy, and I have free time to take care of household matters and do things without worrying about what he is doing.”

Jacob loves Neighborhood House because he can be around other people with their own individual needs and abilities. The diversity and stimulating schedule help support his independence through physical, cognitive, social, and spiritual activities. He loves spending time with our upbeat, knowledgeable staff.

Before Jacob started spending his days at the Neighborhood House Cottonwood Adult Day Center, Alison was struggling to get through the day with all of her responsibilities, but after finding Neighborhood House she has felt such relief.

“Neighborhood House is a life-line and a lifesaver! I truly don’t know what either of us would do without this outstanding program!” Jacob enjoys the dancing and exercise activities the most, and gets exceptional physical and social interaction with aides that adapt to meet his abilities. Neighborhood House is happy to be a part of Alison and Jacob’s success story we look forward to helping Jacob age-in-place for years to come!
