As the Children’s Program Associate Director, Erik ensures that the program remains high-quality and provides the best education possible for each child. He is passionate about supporting our teachers and helping each child in our program succeed. Collaborating daily with the Early Education team, Erik ensures we remain NAEYC accredited and continue to meet state licensing requirements. Before joining Neighborhood House, Erik spent most of his career in education settings.
He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology and mathematics from Weber State University, where he focused on how children learn mathematical concepts and how to apply those concepts in their daily lives. After graduating, he moved to Nashville, TN, where he received his Master’s degree in Teaching and Learning from Vanderbilt University in 2006. He became fascinated with how middle school mathematics teachers implement new curricula in their classrooms. After working with middle school educators for over two years, he knew he wanted to be a mathematics teacher. As an educator, his main goal was to design learning environments and innovative curricula to meet the needs of students. He has always been dedicated to serving his community and is highly thankful for the opportunity to be here at Neighborhood House. In his free time, Erik enjoys being a father, playing guitar, listening to music, watching sports, and cooking.
