As the Children’s Program Associate Director, Erik ensures that the program remains in high quality and provides the best education possible for each child. He is passionate about supporting our teachers and helping each child in our program succeed. Collaborating daily with the Early Education team, Erik ensures we remain NAEYC accredited and continue to meet state licensing requirements. Prior to joining Neighborhood House, Erik spent most of his career in education settings.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Mathematics from Weber State University where he focused on how children learn mathematical concepts and how to apply those concepts in their daily life. After graduating he moved to Nashville, TN where he received his Master’s degree in Teaching and Learning from Vanderbilt University in 2006 and became fascinated with how middle school mathematics teachers implement new curriculum in their classrooms. After working with middle school educators for over two years, he knew he wanted to be a mathematics teacher. As an educator, his main goal was to design learning environments and innovative curriculum to meet the needs of students. He has always been dedicated to serving his community and is extremely thankful for the opportunity to be here at Neighborhood House. In his free time Erik enjoys being a father, playing guitar, listening to music, watching sports and cooking.
