Meals That Matter. Nourishing Families Every Day.
september newsletter 2

At Neighborhood House, food is more than fuel, it’s a lifeline. In 2024, we served more than 143,000 meals to children and adults. For some, the day begins with a healthy breakfast; for others, it’s a balanced lunch, an afterschool snack, or an optional to-go dinner parents can take home at pickup.

Every bite tells a story of dignity and opportunity. Parents can work a full day knowing their children are nourished. Caregivers of aging adults can exhale, knowing their loved one has enjoyed a hot, balanced meal. And for families stretched to their limits, access to healthy food means one less worry at the end of the day.

Our on-site food pantry, stocked through a partnership with the Utah Food Bank and their Grocery Rescue program, provides families with fresh produce, dairy, canned goods, and pantry staples several times each week. Wasteless Solutions adds to this support by also filling our pantry and bringing their mobile food pantry directly to our campus, serving both clients and surrounding neighbors. We also receive seasonal deliveries of fresh vegetables and herbs from local farmers like Yousif and Bashire of New Roots, and Wasatch Community Gardens, bringing the flavors of the valley into our kitchens at no extra cost to families.

Federal reimbursements through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) cover part of our meal costs, but they do not cover everything. It is your generosity that closes the gap, sustaining nutritious meals and preserving the dignity of every child, adult, and family who comes through our doors.

Together, we can keep food on the table and hope in the hearts of families who count on us. Donate today to help sustain meals for children, adults, and caregivers in our community.

Stories of Impact from Tent Party 2025!

We can’t thank you enough for joining us at Tent Party 2025! Because of your generosity, we raised over $550,000 to support affordable, high-quality care and programs for the children and adults we serve.

Because of your generosity, Neighborhood House is more than a place for care, it’s a place where families find stability. Working parents can focus on their jobs knowing their children are safe, supported, and receiving a great education. Adults in our programs experience dignity and belonging, while households facing challenges receive extra help through our wraparound services and hardship assistance. Your support makes all of this possible.

This year’s Tent Party wasn’t just a night of dinner and dancing under the stars, it was a celebration of impact, stories, and the sparks of possibility we ignite together.

If you couldn’t join us, we invite you to watch the powerful stories we premiered at the event and see the difference your support makes.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in Neighborhood House and standing beside the families we serve. Together, we are building brighter futures.

Trunk or Treat: A Night of Fun, Family, and Afterschool Awareness
trunk

Each October, Neighborhood House transforms Halloween into a celebration of imagination, togetherness, and fun! On Wednesday, October 23 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., families are invited to join us for our annual Trunk or Treat, where Neighborhood House departments and local organizations transform their cars into themed stations filled with candy, toys, and plenty of festive fun.

Our Trunk or Treat began as a creative pivot during COVID-19, when we shifted from our traditional indoor Halloween carnival to a safe outdoor celebration. What started as a workaround has now become a favorite tradition for children, parents, staff, and volunteers alike.

This evening also serves as our Lights On Afterschool Family Fun Night, part of a nationwide movement launched in 2000 by the Afterschool Alliance. Celebrated in communities across the country, Lights On Afterschool shines a spotlight on the essential role afterschool programs play in keeping children safe, engaged, and inspired to learn.

To make this year’s celebration extra special, we’re asking for donations of individually wrapped candy (no peanuts please), fruit snacks, and small toys or games (such as Play-Doh cans or fidget toys) by October 16th. Donations can be dropped off at the Neighborhood House front desk during business hours.

By combining the spirit of Halloween with the mission of afterschool programs, our Trunk or Treat has become one of our most beloved traditions. We can’t wait to welcome families for another night of laughter, costumes, and connection!

The Power of Corporations Giving Back!

At Neighborhood House, volunteers bring energy, skills, and heart to everything we do. While our staff focuses on providing high-quality care and education, volunteers help with the essential projects that keep our campus safe, welcoming, and ready for families. When corporate teams step in, their impact multiplies, making it possible to tackle big projects and small details alike.

This month, we were fortunate to welcome several outstanding corporate partners:

Utah Transit Authority (UTA) spent time with our Adult Day Services clients and helped sort donations for our Food Pantry, ensuring shelves stay stocked for families in need.

Ally Bank rolled up their sleeves to hang twinkling lights and prepare our campus for Tent Party 2025, adding warmth and sparkle to our biggest fundraiser of the year.

Williams and Instructure came out in full force to beautify our campus. From cleaning windows and scrubbing wainscoting to power washing, refreshed the playground wood chips, and handling all the little tasks that make a big difference, they ensured our grounds looked their very best for students and guests.

Traeger Grills gave our fleet of vans a professional shine, scrubbing them clean so students can ride safely and proudly.

Every hour donated helps us stretch our resources further, ensuring children, adults, and caregivers receive the care and dignity they deserve. All of these acts of service add up to something powerful, a brighter, stronger Neighborhood House.

We are deeply grateful to every volunteer who shares their time and talents with us. You make a lasting difference in the lives of the families we serve.  Learn about our volunteer opportunities at this link.
